How can I sell my art?

Sunday, October 11th, 2009
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air asked:

I’m 16, and I need a little extra money, so I was thinking of selling my art.
How would i go about with this? Is ebay good for selling art? Or should i go to a gallery? My family are having a ‘cart-boot’ sale soon, and i was thinking that I might sell it there. Is this a good idea?

Also, what kind of art sells well? Abstract? Landscapes? Animals? Portraits?
I think I’m capable of doing all of these types of art

Thanks for your help! :)

What should I use to color in an art project?

Friday, September 18th, 2009
The One Truth asked:

I took first semester art so I have only been using pens, pencils, charcoal, and ink so far. I personally myself have used for fun watercolor pencils and chalk pastels.

Now for the second semester, the teacher told us that we should choose a preferred medium to color with such as colored pencils, paint, watercolor, pastels, markers, etc. She said that was a good method to get good at a type of coloring. What should a beginner such as I color with?

Some of my favorite things to do is draw faces, people, animals(Not always real animals for those who know what I mean), landscapes, etc.

Are there any artists viewing this who sell their art as prints?

mica h asked:

I am an artist (but make my living as a landscape designer) who wants to not starve. I have sold some of my work, and had tons of people who want to buy my work. But, each painting takes me a ridiculous amount of time as I am a perfectionist when I paint, and I get very attached to each piece.I would rather get a limited number of reproductions made (lithographs, seriographs,) and sell them.It is very expensive to have art reproduced. But the big art publishers obviously pay for the printing of the artists whom they represent (bruce mcgraw, etc) How do you get them to pick you up? Are there agents for artists just like other creative folks? If anyone knows I would love to hear from you .

What is the concept in art and design?

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009
Tammy asked:

When an artist or a designer has this tendency or compulsion to fill up all the empty space in a canvass, or a landscape or an area in design. Like, when painters leave no part of a canvass unpainted; or when graphic designers fill up the entire page with busy images. I know there’s a word for it, I just can’t remember.

My art work is mostly trees and landscapes to hang on the wall. Some of it is painted and some raw metal. I plan to attend art shows this summer but in the mean time I would like to sell some on line.
